DOT/CDL Physical Exams

Complete Med Care performs DOT physical exams in the Dallas area.  We perform CDL medical examinations on a walk-in or by appointment basis.  If qualified, the driver receives a medical certificate and a miniature water-proof copy after the examination.

In the past, any licensed physician could issue the DOT medical certificate, but starting from May 21st, 2014, certificates can only be issued by examiners that have completed mandatory training and have passed an examination to verify that they have thorough knowledge of medical requirements for CDL drivers.  Our physicians are appropriately credentialed by NRCME to issue CDL medical certificates for CDL license holders.
Call our office at 972-792-7777 to schedule a DOT physical exam,
or if you any questions about it.  Our office staff speaks Spanish.
What to bring with you and how to pass DOT physical:

- Bring a valid drivers license, ID, or a passport. You must know your driver license number if using ID/passport for identification.

- If applicable, bring a list of all medications that you take so you can write them on the DOT form. Take all meds as prescribed. Wear your glasses and hearing aids.

- To avoid a falsely elevated blood pressure reading, do not smoke or consume caffeine products for at least 3 hours prior to exam. Make sure you get at least 7 hours of sleep the night before your physical.

- Examination cost includes physical exam, urinalysis for blood, protein, and sugar, and if qualified, an 8.5"x11" DOT medical certificate together with a miniature water-proof copy
Drug and alcohol testing is not a part of the DOT physical, however, employers may want drivers to be tested at the same time as their DOT medical exam.  Additionally, alcohol and drug testing can be requested by employer pre-employment, post-accident or at any random time, at the discretion of the employer.

The DOT physical exam includes review of medical history, a general exam,  urinalysis for blood, protein and sugar, and testing of vision and hearing.  If all of the DOT requirements are met, then the driver receives a medical certificate, which can be valid up to a maximum of 2 years.
